Following more than eight months of extensive renovations, award-winning Thai restaurant Supatra River House is once again opening its doors at the beginning of 2018 with the promise to deliver an even more distinctive dining experience to its many guests. The restaurant is also aiming to further strengthen its reputation as one of the best destinations for authentic Thai cuisine.
Full of historical wonders, this beautiful traditional Thai house dates back to 1975 and was the former home of Khunying Supatra Singholaka, founder of the Supatra and Chao Phraya Express Boat companies. Her residence was converted into this magnificent restaurant in 1998, several years after her passing.
Offering one of the best views of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, Supatra River House looks out over the magnificent Grand Palace and Rama 8 Bridge. It is the ideal spot to meet colleagues for a leisurely party, a business lunch or enjoy a romantic dinner.
Accessing the restaurant is convenient too with a complimentary shuttle boat service from Tha Maharaj to the private pier on a traditional wooden rice barge.
In the two decades since its opening, Supatra River House has won many culinary awards for authentic Thai cuisine, ‘Thailand Tatler for one of Thailand’s Best Restaurant for its exceptional cuisine in year 2001 to 2008’, ‘The Miele Guide as one of Asia’s finest restaurant in year 2009 to 2012’ to name a few. The extensive menu offers not only a tantalizing choices of internationally recognized Thai dishes but also traditional dishes not found in typical Thai restaurants.
Despite the accolades and recognition, the restaurant is still at heart a family home and a riverside museum that offers a warm welcome to all its guests.
